I swear to God, if Tony considers Kip Wells our ace, I'm going to s h i t bricks. Hopefully our rotation would be... Wainwright Wells Reyes Looper Thompson Well look at the bright side, Looper rotation spot is more secure now. *whistle*

St. Louis has some spare relievers, Philly has an extra starter, I wonder when the 2 will start talking.

Randy Keisler will get the spot start.
Philly doesn't really have any extra starters, aren't Lieber and Garcia on the DL?
Looper is pitching a great game against the Pirates. I know it's the Pirates, but they were playing as good as anyone. Wells pitched a gem against the Astros. It's good that he's pitching well too. Wainwright pitched great. Reyes was mediocre, but I think he'll bounce back. The offense has to wake up, and I think they might during this Pirates series.
Anyway... it's not looking good for Carpenter. The good news is that Mulder might be back right after the All-Star Break. He actually could be an ace, unlike Wells, Wainwright, Looper, or Reyes.
Oh yeah, they have Blake Hawksworth in AAA. He's not ready now, but maybe in a month or so he'll get a call up. He's got sick stuff.

I wouldn't count on Mulder being an ace. It seems all of Oakland's old Big Three (Zito, Mulder, and Hudson) have sucked after leaving.

Except we're now finding out that Mulder was playing with a bad shoulder. It's a long story and it has been explained over and over again between Cardinal fans. The point is, Mulder wasn't himself since he's been with St. Louis. He was adapting to an injury and changed his mechanics.
Mulder probably won't be a lot of help right away when he comes back, but in '08, he should be great.
