Starting over? Apr 14 - Brad Lidge's days in Houston might be numbered. According to the Chicago Tribune, there reportedly have been trade talks between the Astros and Devil Rays. Lidge fits the profile of high-end pitchers that Tampa Bay usually seeks. He's only 30 and could have a lot of good years ahead of him, possibly even as a starter.
Both the Astros and D-Rays appear to have plenty of movable parts. They also have an interesting connection, with former Houston GM Gerry Hunsicker working as a mentor for Tampa GM Andrew Friedman.

Too bad he can't get anything out right now. I doubt they'll get anything of worth for him besides dumping his salary.

I think we still can get something for Lidge. You know there are pitching coaches foaming at the mouth to get their hands on his velocity - telling their managers, "Yeah, I can fix him!" Granted, I think the days are gone when we'd get prime real estate in a trade, but we should still be able to get something decent out of it, plus dumping the salary.
I think they'll pitch him in every game possible to try to raise his stock... that is, if he doesn't give up 5 runs in half the outings.

Yeah the longer he stay as mop-up guy, the more his value will decrease. Its best to send him to the Devil Rays, it might add enough salary to the Devil Rays to make the Marlins the lowest payroll team again. ;D

I don't see TB making a trade for Lidge though. 1) They don't like absorbing payroll 2) They will always try to go young to build "the team of the future".

Let's see. Make him a starter. He gives up runs every time we see him so through 9 innings the Astros should lose 38 to 2.
