Brad Ausmus was out of the starting lineup Saturday against the Phillies, but that had nothing to do with the headache he received Friday night blocking the plate for the out when Shane Victorino collided with him, jarring his hockey-style catcher's helmet. Humberto Quintero is Woody Williams' personal catcher, so he started Saturday.
"I feel good," Ausmus said. "I slept all right."
Ausmus said he didn't think about the collision before Victorino pounded him for the first out of the eighth inning.
"You don't even think about it because it happens so fast," he said. "It amazes me that catchers used to take their hats off."
Athletic trainer Dave Labossiere rushed out to check on Ausmus, asking him: "Where are we? What's the score? Who are we playing?"
He knew Ausmus was fine by the smart-aleck replies and the shot at plate umpire Greg Gibson.
"We're playing the Brewers," Ausmus said jokingly. "We're up 8-6 and we're in Milwaukee. I'm fine. I remember everything. I'll show you. Greg's been blowing calls all night."
Gibson, who had tossed manager Phil Garner in the fifth and had words with Ausmus and Roy Oswalt, took the jab in good spirits.

Great play by the Astros on that one. Brad did look a little dazed for a minute. Good to see he is OK

LOL! I love Ausmus' sense of humor.
