how do you guys think a Johnny Cueto, Edwin Encarnacion, and Josh Hamilton deal would stand up to the deal with the Dodgers and Mets? I can tell you about these guys if you don't know them

Is Cueto a pitcher? That's what Baltimore wants. As well as a good OF. I don't think Hamilton is all that interesting to them.

Cueto is a very good pitching prospect at like 22 who has great numbers and control. His stuff is a little lower than stud prospect Homer Bailey.
I don't think that most people realize that Josh Hamilton got his pretty good numbers last season from raw talent. He hadn't ever played a game above single a, and hadn't done that in 2 years. It was his first full season in 5 years. He really looks like he could become a stud outfielder, and he's only 26

Hamilton's off-field issues will keep clubs away from him.

he's been clean for 2 years now. And there have been many teams asking about him thus far.

Why take a 25 year old OF with skeletons in his closet when you can get a 21 year old OF with none?

they give more than the Mets do. Cueto is thought of as a better prospect and EE gives them a 3b

Mets are giving 4-5 players. 3 of which are pitchers. The Reds would only be giving them 1 pitcher and 1 OF with a shady past. They don't need a 3B.

BTW, Mora will not be dumped in the Bedard deal.

wayne Krivsky(Reds GM) said that the Reds were most likely going after Bedard. That is a BIG statement from him. For those of you who don't know him, he says nothing. Before these meetings, he wouldn't even say what the Reds were looking for in terms of what position, much less players. When Cordero agreed, he barely said that they had talked to him, even though it was a done deal. This gets me thinking that the Reds might be going after Bedard hard

Don't hold your breath. Bedard will be a Met as soon as Santana is a Red Sox. Or is it Red Sock?

I'm not holding my breath. I didn't say I thought he would go. The great thing about trading for young pitchers is that it usually doesn't matter what market it is. he's not a FA. For a high priced guy such as Santana, when the Red Sox, Yankees, and Mets are in it, I have no hope the Reds could be. But with Bedard, I do have some hope. The Reds have very good prospects. They are considering trading Homer Bailey, with one or two position players that are always highly rated such as Joey Votto, EE, Hamilton, and maybe even Bruce

I haven't spoken to my friend recently. However, with the Dodgers getting Jones, it makes their young OF (Ethier and Kemp) expendable. The Dodgers were rumored to be pursuing Bedard about a month ago. Therefore, the Dodgers are probably their #1 suitor if it's true they're going after an ace.
That would leave the Mets with 2 options for an ace: Johan Santana and Dan Haren. Haren may not be traded. Even if he is, Beane will want too much.
I'll speak to my friend to see if he has any info.

Just an update on Bedard, a source within the Reds organization told Enquirer writer John Fay that there is a 75% chance the Reds get him. This source told him about Narron being fired a day before it happened, and Fay says he can be trusted and is someone who would know. I'm not saying that their going to get him, just giving an update

I've heard the Reds rumored as well. Him going to the Mets seems dead now that these prospect-rich teams are entering the picture.
