Now that the regular season is over for most teams, I figured it would be appropriate to make a post where fans could give their mock offseasons. Here's mine for the Reds.
Jocketty said a day ago that the payroll will increase. This means he'll spend money on power-hitting RH batter(most likely), as he also said he thinks the pitching is fine. With that in mind, here it is:
Acquire Matt Holliday for Homer Bailey, Edwin Encarnacion, Ramon Ramirez, and specs The Rockies will need a corner IF, and would like EE because of his power. Adding Holliday will give the Reds the power-hitting right hander they need, and even though his numbers are inflated in Denver, they would still be in Cincinnati. We'll spend most of the added money from the payroll increases and trades on a long-term deal for him
Sign Joe Crede Crede may cost a little too much, but I'd be fine with overpaying for him, as he gives decent defense and will fit in well in the lineup
Resign Jeremy Affeldt and Jerry Hairston Jr. Affeldt could be coveted, but he's the one guy Jocketty really wants back to be the LH in the bullpen. Because of injuries, Hairston won't get that many offers, but can be a good 4th outfielder/utility man for the team
Sign Bob Howry and Guillermo Mota Although Mets' fans hate Mota, he can be a decent MR. Howry is coming off an awful season, so he'll barely cost a thing. I like the bullpen, and it only needs a view tweaks
Lineup: 1. Chris Dickerson/Drew Stubbs CF 2. Brandon Phillips 2B 3. Joey Votto 1B 4. Matt Holliday LF 5. Jay Bruce RF 6. Joe Crede 3B 7. Jeff Keppinger/Alex Gonzalez SS 8. Ryan Hannigan/Wilkin Castillo/Craig Tatum CF 9. Pitcher
Bench: Dickerson(if Stubbs starts) Hairston Gonzalez or Keppinger Danny Richar/Adam Rosales Castillo/Hannigan/Tatum
Rotation: 1. Edinson Volquez 2. Aaron Harang 3. Johnny Cueto 4. Bronson Arroyo 5. Daryl Thompson/Michah OwingsNick Masset
Bullpen: Masset/Owings LR Mota MR Howry MR Affeldt MR Burton S Bray S Cordero C
I know it's all a long shot, but that is what is fun about these

Magglio Ordonez might be more plausible than Matt Holliday.
In what universe is Mota a decent MR? Sure ain't this one.
For the Mets, sign Derek Lowe, Jon Garland, K-Rod, Juan Rivera, and David Eckstein. I'd estimate this to cost $46.33M which is exactly how much money the Mets have coming off the books. To further lighten payroll, trade Scott Schoneweis (coming off a good year so sell high) and Aaron Heilman (some team likely wants him). They should be able to net at least two relievers.

Matt Holliday is either a free agent or locked in long term with the Rox. Joe Crede is not a great defensive player anymore he has made so many errors on routine plays this year, besides Scott Borras is going to keep Crede a free agent for a long time with the kind of money he asked the Sox for this year 5 years 52.3 million $. But as a Sox fan I'll take the high draft pick.
As for the White Sox:
Dont resign: Orlando Cabrera Joe Crede Mike Macdougal Andy Sisco
Re-sign: Juan Uribe (2 years 5 million or so) Toby Hall (1 year 1 million) Matt Thornton (2 years 1 million)
As for trades/ free agents
Ever since I saw Ryan Zimmerman play I have always wanted him to be a White Sox so maybe: Ken Griffey Junior (half his salary), Boone Logan and Josh Fields for Ryan Zimmerman.
Sign Someone like Nick Punto, Jason Bartlett, Brendan Harris or Marco Sucutaro. We need someone who can punt and play a lot of positions.

Holliday is going to be on the block and/or the Rockies will listen at offers for him, almost everybody has confirmed that
Is Crede an A free agent? If so, we wouldn't give our first round pick up anyway, so I really don't factor that in
Why would the Nats want Griffey? Zimmerman is their franchise player, there is no chance they even listen to anything for him unless a elite, proven starter is included along with other key pieces

-Trade Jose Guillen and get Jeff Francoeur to replace him. -Trade for Nick Swisher. No idea how plausible this is, but supposedly he's unhappy right now. -Sign Alex Cora for a backup infielder. He'd be a good mentor for Alberto Callaspo and is a decent backup. -Sign D. Lowe if possible. Sinker ball pitchers age well.
cf David DeJesus ss Mike Aviles 3b Alex Gordon 1b Ryan Shealy lf Nick Swisher dh Billy Butler rf Jeff Francouer c Miguel Olivo 2b Alberto Callaspo
sp: Zack Greinke, Gil Meche, Derec Lowe, Luke Hochevar, Kyle Davies rp: Joakim Soria, Ramon Ramirez, Leo Nunez, other dudes...

-Let Giambi, Abreu, Pudge, Petitte, go. -Send Robby Cano, Melky Cabrera, and Phil Hughes to play in winter leagues, they need all the help they can get with their stalled development. -Sign CC Sabathia, Sean Casey, Eric Hinske and Livan Hernandez. -Try hard to bring back Mussina for one more year..
Starting Rotation: 1.CC Sabathia 2.Chien-Ming Wang 3.Mike Mussina 4.Joba Chamberlain/Livan Hernandez makes spot starts for Joba every once in awhile to keep innings down. 5.Phil hughes/kei igawa/alfredo aceves..etc.
Bullpen: Mariano Rivera Brian Bruney Edwar Ramirez Jose Veras Livan Hernandez(long man) Mark Melancon
Line Up
1. Johnny Damon LF 2. Derek Jeter SS 3. Alex Rodriguez 3B 4. Xavier Nady RF 5. Hideki Matsui DH 6. Jorge Posada C 7. Robinson Cano 2B 8. Sean Casey 1B 9. Brett Gardener CF(keeping the spot warm for Austin Jackson)
Bench: Melky Cabrera, Wilson Betemit, Cody Ransom, Eric Hinske, Jose Molina
I think with that rotation, and if the offense produces like it can, that's a playoff team.

Livan Hernandez? Seriously? He can still throw a lot of innings...he'd just be a long man really.

I like this idea to some extent. I would send Gardner down(or trade) and keep Abreu. Can Ransom play 1B? If not, then keep him as a backup. I am not big on Sean Casey(Take Giambi over him, atleast Giambi can drive in runs), what about that guy that had some time at 1B during the Sox series not too long ago?

He gave up 257 hits in 180 IP this year. Oh..didn't know that lol...basically I think they just need a half decent starter with experience to make spot starts...

seaver, look at his 2008 stats. He hasn't been great, he hasn't been awful. Decent. I'll take a 4.11 ERA with a 1.4 WHIP with 52 hits in 57 innings as my last MR

I'll be surprise if a team does let a pitcher play for them for 180 IP long with a Whip at around 2.
