Going to be a dogfight at the top of the division... Not really. Atlanta kinda sucks. Philly's pitching is no better and they lost Rowand. The Mets are still the best of the worst.

I think higher of Atlanta than you do, I suppose. Philly's pitching may have gotten worse (that's possible!) with the loss of Lieber. However Bret Myers is returning to the rotation, that may help them. I agree that the Mets are the most talented team in the division, but anything can happen in baseball.

Chuck James is average at best. The 5th spot is definitely going to someone awful. They lost Renteria (who was one of their best hitters) and Jones (he had an awful year but they're still taking a step back with whoever they put in CF). With Philly, even if they add Myers to the roation (who is just a #2 at best), their bullpen is still awful. Brad Lidge as their closer is going to be a nightmare. Jamie Moyer won't be any better and their #5 is awful whether it's Eaton (easily the worst starter in baseball) or someone else.

He may pitch like an ace sometimes but for the most part he's a #2. Adam Eaton is the worst starter. He had a 6.29 ERA last year (73 ERA+). 1.6 WHIP, gave up 30 HR (1 per start) and had a 1.37 K/BB.

Jair Jurrjens should be a good #5 for Atlanta. He has really good command considering how young he is.
Like I said, the Mets SHOULD win the division, but the Braves and Phillies are good enough to have something to say about it.

Jurrjens will likely start in AAA to begin the season since he skipped it.
It's more like the Mets are just bad enough to let the Braves and Phillies have a chance.
