Alright now prospects...this is an easy answer for me. Gotta go with: Alex Gordon Billy Butler Luke Hochevar Not gonna argue with 2 big time power bats and a future ace. #2) Devil Rays (Delmon Young, Reid Brignac, Evan Longoria, very deep system) #3) Dodgers (Andy LaRoche, Clayton Kershaw, James Loney, another deep system) #4) Mets (Mike Pelfrey, Phil Humber, Fernando Martinez, nice top 3, although it tanks a quite a bit after that) #5) Yankees (Phil Hughes, Jose Tabata, Humberto Sanchez, good pitching depth, bats not so much) There's good arguments for the Reds, Diamondbacks, and Rockies too to be top 5.

Adam Wainwright Anthony Reyes Chris Duncan I guess you could argue that these guys are too old. But in a few years... Colby Rasmus

Drew is no longer a prospect. D-Backs are very good depth wise though. Gonzalez has huge plate discipline issues...so it's hard for me to like him a lot
cards - Yea thats good, but by baseball terms they've already all exalted their rookie status.

#4) Mets (Mike Pelfrey, Phil Humber, Fernando Martinez, nice top 3, although it tanks a quite a bit after that) You forgot Carlos Gomez and Lastings Milledge.

Alright, then I'll go by who is in the minor leagues. They won't be called up, but they are probably the Cardinals' best prospects.
#1 Jaime Garcia 6'1 200 20 Yrs old Lefty Young Lefty who started in Low A Quad Cities and Moved on about midseason to Palm Beach compliled final season totals of 3.37 ERA 155 IP 131 K/ 34 BB 10 W 8 L Would expect him to start the season in Palm Beach, and more then likely stay there all year, barring lights out numbers where he could see time at Springfield STL ETA 2010 Major League Prediction #2-3 Starter
#2 Blake Hawksworth 6'3 195 23 Yrs old Righty Gifted highly touted pitcher who has been decimated with injuries, seems to have finaly put it together ahd an ERa of about 1 run higher in springfield then Palm beach, but still a very good 3.39. Has dirty stuff. Refer to CardsCrazy589 who saw him pitch this past summer in Springfield. Palm Beach Springfield totals of 2.92 ERA 163.1 IP 121 K/ 50 BB 11 W 4 L Should spend the entire season in memphis, if he really struggles there could be moved down to springfield. Would not expect to see him in STL anytime before September. STL ETA Sept. 2007 or 2008 Major League Prediction #2-3 Starter
#3 Colby Rasmus 6'1 175 20 Years old L/L Centerfielder of the future seems to be a slow starter but will give you numbers to be very happy with in the end. Hits for solid average, and in the pros is prbably a 25-25 guy while being an above average defender, would be nice to not see the K total climb, and an increase of BB's 2006 between Quad Cities and Palm Beach .288 AVE 71 R 16 HR 85 RBI 56BB/ 90 K 28 SB .364 OBP .834 OPS Probably will start in Palm Beach, but would expect him to see time in Springfield STL ETA 2009 Major League Prediction #2 Hitter Starting CF

I forgot to add, I'm not saying the Cardinals' prospects are the best, or even close. Just bringing some names to the table.

#4) Mets (Mike Pelfrey, Phil Humber, Fernando Martinez, nice top 3, although it tanks a quite a bit after that) You forgot Carlos Gomez and Lastings Milledge. 1 - It's top 3. 2 - Milledge is no longer a prospect, he played to many innings 3 - Gomez is good...I meant after another 3-4 good/decent spects...it tanks.

Milledge is still considered a prospect.

Maybe by you he is...but he exalted his rookie status last year. The cutoff is 150 AB's, Milledge had 166.

Although the Diamondbacks have the sickest system in the bigs, I'll make my case for my biased Yankees.
1.Phillip Hughes-Hughes attended Foothill High School in Santa Ana,California, where he was a first-team High School All-American. He also pitched a perfect game during high school. In his senior year, he was 9-1, with an 0.69 ERA.In 61 innings he gave up 40 hits and 3 walks. Not to mention the 83 batters he struck out.The 20-year old Hughes has compiled a career era of 2.13 and 269 K's in 3 minor league seasons. The Yankees have been cautious with Hughes, hence his 5 inning limit last season with the Double-AA Trenton Thunder. Phil is expected to start the year with the Yankees AAA affiliate. If any of the Yankees starting pitchers go down in '07, don't be surpsied if Mr. Hughes makes his debut in the bronx.Hughes has a fastball that can hit the upper nineties which is ML Ready, a great great slider, his out pitch, and a ML ready change.
2. I'm not sure if this kid is really 17, but if he is, we've got something special in our hands. The guy has great speed and contact, with raw power potential to hit 30 HR's by the time he he's in his mid-20's.
3. Humberto Sanchez/Dellin Betances- Humberto is a top 50 prospect. He has no.3 starter potential, 2 at best. He throws hard, and has nice stuff. Betances was just drafted out of High School, where he frequently hit in the 90's and has touched 97. The guy is big and tall with tremendous potential. The only downside is his control needs a little bit of work.

Maybe by you he is...but he exalted his rookie status last year. The cutoff is 150 AB's, Milledge had 166. Not just by me. Writers still regard him as a prospect. Just because he is no longer a rookie doesn't mean he can't be considered a prospect.

OK whatever. I'm not counting him since he's no longer a rookie, and that's all that matters right now. He's no longer counted in top prospect lists.

Doublestix, I'm gonna have to agree with you. All of those guys (Gordon, Butler, Hochevar) are really great prospects. Especially Gordon. He has the upside of Mike Schmidt or George Brett. Ah yes, the future does indeed look bright for Kansas City. B)
