Carpenter is surely not the best pitcher even at the moment but you have to put hm in the top 5. He only had 1 solid year, his # are still impressive. His ERA points may have raise by .20 points from 05 to 06 but I'll happily have him in my staff even if ERA is raise by .30 points next season.

Have it your way. On any contending team, he is a 2nd starter. Am I able to have my fu*kin opinion? Man. Carpenter is the best pitcher ever. Dave Duncan is the best pitching coach ever. Tony LaRussa has the best sunglasses even at night games ever. Happy now? I'm not trying to take away your opinion. And where did I say anything about Carpenter, Duncan, and Tony being the best at what they do? This is about deciding whether Carpenter is an ace or not. I was giving reasons of why I disagree with you. I'm not trying to make it personal. I don't have to sit here and say, "Golly gee, he doesn't agree with me so I'll sit there and not talk about it." I was under the impression that the whole point of this forum is to have discussions about baseball. If you go out and say something as significant as that, I would think you would have some thought process behind it. I wanted to hear why you thought Carpenter was a #2. We obviously strongly disagree on this subject. But I, for one, am not going to hold it against you that we disagreed on something. If the subject was if Jeter should have been the MVP, you'd feel passionate about it too. So on other topics, I'm not going to let this topic affect how we interact.
