OK getting a little desperate, but I'm bored. Gary Sheffield (DET) Zack Greinke (KC) Hideki Matsui (NYY) Eric Gagne (TEX) Octavio Dotel (KC) Honorable Mention- Bartolo Colon (LAA, Not sure if he'll ever regain his stuff)
- Carl Pavano (NYY, OK, maybe well if he can stay healthy, very big IF)
- Mike Sweeney (KC, Same with Pavano just less glorified, still one of the better hitters in the league when healthy)
OK Sorry for glamorizing KC on that list, harder to think of candidates here. Sheffield still has a very quick bat and could hit 30 again. Greinke is a good candidate to win it, no doubts about his stuff, and his head seems to be on tighter. Matsui is a good candidate to rebound and hit .300/25. Gagne and Dotel have both had their share of injury problems the last 2 years, but both have electric stuff and could have big years.

Most likely Greinke.
If Meche lives up to the hype, Meche-Greinke-Perez will be a formidible top 3 pitchers...Bannister to round it out sounds like a team with mayeb 70-75 wins.

All they need to do is be league average for 70 wins. Hell even below league average could get that. Got 62 with absolute shit pitching last year. If Meche really starts to harness his stuff and Greinke and Perez pitch like they can, this team will be having fun in September. Not likely to be a playoff team, BUT, they won't be written off so soon. Team is loaded with potential, and right now that's all it is...for now. ;D Rant done. Anyways I really do like Greinke to win the award. In a radio interview he was joking around and sounded much better than he has in the past. He said this year was the first year he was really excited for baseball to begin. He said he's really good at golf, when he shoots 3 over for 18 holes he gets mad at himself! I'd be ecstatic to be 3 over for 18 every time I go out and golf. It got better when he said he thinks golf is boring because he isn't good enough. LOL!

Why Sheffield and Matsui? They didn't have a miserable year last season.

They were injured for a good portion of the season.

So? They still produced when they were playing and came off successful seasons.

Uh OK. One of the criteria for Comeback player of the Year is injury for a long period of time. They were both injured. If they have long successful seasons, they will be considered. Frank Thomas was successful in his limited time in 2005, then won it in 2006.

But they came back past season and put up good numbers before and after their injuries. Thomas flat out sucked in 2005.

Well, if a .920 OPS sucks, I'd like to have a lot of players that suck on my team.

His OPS was .901. He was batting .219 and had an OBP of .315.
