Jones' walk-off lifts Braves
Center fielder drills three-run shot in ninth to take set opener

ATLANTA -- Visibly honoring Josh Hancock and savoring memories of his grandmother, Tim Hudson took the mound at Turner Field on Monday night with a heavy heart and the determination that ultimately helped the Braves claim a 5-2 win over the Phillies.
Andruw Jones' three-run walk-off homer off Antonio Alfonseca provided the Braves the chance to begin this 10-game homestand in celebratory style. But the veteran center fielder might not have had the chance to deliver this shot if not for Hudson's solid eight-inning effort.
While limiting the Phillies to just two earned runs and four hits, Hudson honored Hancock, the Cardinals pitcher who was killed in an early Sunday morning car accident, by wearing "JH" on his left shoulder.
Hudson, who helped his cause with a fifth-inning RBI groundout, was awoken Sunday morning with a call from his wife, who told him that his grandmother had passed away. A short time later he learned of the passing of Hancock, who he played with at Auburn University.
Like when they faced Hudson on April 4, the Phillies were held hitless through the first four innings. Aaron Rowand's one-out fifth inning single gave them their first hit of the evening. But it was the consecutive one-out singles supplied by Jimmy Rollins and Shane Victorino in the sixth inning that led to their only two runs.
After surrendering a sacrifice fly to Chase Utley and RBI single to Ryan Howard, Hudson proceeded to retire the final seven batters that he faced. Through his first six starts, the rejuvenated right-hander has a 1.40 ERA.
Phillies starter Jon Lieber allowed two runs -- one earned -- and seven hits in seven innings. He surrendered a game-tying Chipper Jones homer to begin the bottom of the sixth inning.
