At this point of his career, Smoltz is very injury prone...smart move by the Braves by taking it easy with him.

It is the best thing for him right now and hopefully it isn't anything serious and he will be back on his feet and pitching befor the mid-April...I'm hoping that is...

He'll be back before mid-April...I doubt he'll get pushed back. The Braves want to be patient, but by April 6th, when he's due to come off the DL, he'll be ready to pitch. No worries.

I'm trying but he is my favorite player and I can't stand to see him start the season on the DL. Makes me wonder how our "perfect season" is going to shape out as. But no worries.......no worries he'll be back cause he's strong and I don't think he can even last till April 6th. lol

That's really not a big deal...at least IMO. I think Scott Kazmir might miss just 1 start also.

Except his arm/shoulder started to hurt a little after the 5th inning and I got a little scared. But I'm very happy and I didn't have to really worry about it. He gave his all, as always, and won us the game!

This is pretty much the end of his dominance career, he can dominance for so long until age creep up to him. Awesome pitchers back in the 90's and 00's, his number sshould be retired as a Braves for being their Ace of a dominance rotation for about a decade.

He was great in the 90's no doubt. I just wish he could stick around for a little bit more, I love watching him play. I can't imagine him leaving..not at all. It's too hard to imagine and I really don't want to. He dominated for sure, and I remember those great years. Man they were great. lol

Try being a Marlins fan. Feel the same way on Shawn Michaels, or the sudden death of Eddie Guerredo from WWE. All good thing will eventually get replace with the next generation because of age and all you can do is make tributes for them. That why I like cheering on the old veterans as much as the young rookies, see how much they can hit despite their age. Someone sign Grandpa of baseball Franco so ESPN can throw that 50 year old milestone birthday.

Yeah, I heard about Eddie. And Rick Flare retired...that was really, really sad. I couldn't watch him leave either. But you're right. It's all part of life, you do what you can, then when the time comes you have to leave and pass that down to the younger "replacements" of the next generation. It's just hard thinking that Smoltzy would leave. Just thinking about it is giving me goosebumps. lol. I love cheering on veterans, cause I know that they'll be gone too so, why not? Lol, Franco, that man still wants to play ball. He just won't give in to the fact that he it's time for him to leave too. Great times watching Franco. That would be one heck of a party..hahaha!

He is done for the year. That's for sure. Him coming back for next season, that a big question mark depending how he'll react to the surgery.
