Report: Wrist injury puts Tejada's streak in jeopardy

NEW YORK (SI.com) -- Baltimore Orioles shortstop Miguel Tejada extended his consecutive games streak to 1,152 on Thursday, but that's where it is probably going to end, reports The Baltimore Sun.
Tests were taken on Tejada's left wrist late Wednesday night, according to The Sun, and the results confirmed that the four-time All-Star has a non-displaced fracture of his left wrist, an injury that could send him to the disabled list.
Tejada was hit by a pitch on Wednesday night by Padres pitcher Doug Brocail at San Diego, and played just one inning on Thursday before being replaced by a pinch runner after reaching on a fielder's choice.
Interim manager Dave Trembley said Tejada told him he wanted to play, but that he didn't feel comfortable at the plate. Trembley said he had to "walk a fine line between doing what's right for the team and what's right for Tejada, out of respect. Today, I took him out of the game for the team, but I allowed him to have that at-bat out of respect for him."
Tejada's streak is the fifth-longest in major league history and the longest current streak in the majors.

So now what are they going to do, let him at-bat once and then replace him every game. Its a shame that the record is going t go to a waste.
