Griffey cracks No. 570 all-time Grabs sole possession of ninth, three behind Killebrew By Richie Brand / Special to MLB.com
LOS ANGELES -- Ken Griffey, Jr. hit his 570th career home run in the fourth inning of Sunday's game against the Dodgers. Griffey's blast to right off of Dodgers starter Mark Hendrickson, a three-run shot, moved him into sole possession of ninth place on the all-time home run list.
It broke a tie between Griffey and Rafael Palmeiro, and puts the right fielder three behind Harmon Killebrew for eighth place.
With Cincinnati down 3-2, Griffey drove Hendrickson's first pitch to him over the wall in right field, scoring Brandon Phillips and Ryan Freel to put the Reds ahead, 5-3.
The home run was Griffey's seventh of the season.
