- The Reds were one of ten teams that watched former Cubs pitcher Glendon Rusch throw on Friday. Rusch had to stop pitching after the 2006 season because of a blood clot in his lung. Rusch was a starter and reliever. I would be fine with the Reds picking him up, but they obviously can't pencil him in as a fifth starter or long reliever yet. There is no reason not to take a chance on him.
- Newsday(http://www.newsday.com/sports/baseball/yankees/ny-spyanks045446416nov04,0,1329265.story?track=rss has the idea of trading for Edwin Encarnacion to be the Yankees third basemen. In return, I would probably want young pitcher Ian Kennedy. I think that he would be able to compete for a spot in the rotation, and if he didn't, he could be a valuable part to the bullpen. I'm not sure if the Yankees would do this, but it's fun to speculate. If they wouldn't give us Kennedy, then I don't think that trading Edwin to them would help the Reds. They certainly wouldn't give up young pitching studs Joba Chamberlain or Phil Hughes, which with Kennedy is the only starting pitching they have that would help the Reds.
- Sorry I didn't post on this, but Bill Doran is Cincinnati's new Minor League infield/baserunning coordinator, and Tom Browning will be the pitching coach at extended Spring Training and Rookie-level Billings in the Pioneer League.

- Tomorrow will be the start of the GM meetings in Orlando, Florida. This is the time when GM's come together to discuss trades and other things in baseball. Here our the things to look for that the Reds might do:
1.Sign Adam Dunn To An Extension
Left fielder Adam Dunn's contract option was picked up last week. But, the Reds still have to sign him to a long term deal if they want him to come back following next season. I think that the Reds will try very hard to get him to sign an extension and keep him in Cincinnati past next season.
2.Trade For Pitching
The Reds will almost certainly use their surplus of position players and young talent to trade for both relief and starting pitching. They have many young prospects that teams would love to have, and will probably try to be aggressive in getting the pitching which they will need if they wish to contend next season.
3. Make A Big Splash in Free Agency
The Reds will not be able to sign any free agents at the GM meetings, but they can talk to those who have filed for free agency. Hopefully we see the Reds look to get a big name free agent, such as starting pitcher Carlos Silva, who many think the Reds will pursue. There are many other options available for the Reds in >:(starting and relief pitching, although most are not very good.
- The Reds officially became the only thing that Cincinnati fans can enjoy this winter season. The Bengals lost to the Bills today and are almost certainly out of the NFL playoffs. And the Cincinnati Bearcat basketball team looked awful in it's win over NKU last week. And the Bearcat football team has completely lost it's fan support, despite a win over South Florida on Saturday. And for me, the Sacramento Kings look like one of the worst teams in the NBA. But wait; Ohio State fans certainly have something.
- Soon I will look at the free agents that the Reds might want to sign and players available via trade. Then I will do a post of what I think the Reds should do in the exciting offseason.
