Marlins outlast split-squad Mets
Florida scores two in seventh and holds on for win

Marlins at the plate: Aaron Boone enjoyed his best game of the spring with a three-hit, three-RBI performance. Boone delivered a run-scoring single and Joe Borchard added a sacrifice fly in a two-run seventh inning that gave the Marlins a 6-4 lead. In the second inning, Boone's two-run single put the Marlins out front, 2-1. Miguel Olivo, who singled, and Borchard, who doubled, scored on the single to center. In the third inning, Olivo's RBI single to left brought home Hanley Ramirez, who singled. Eric Reed delivered a run-scoring single in the fourth. Boone doubled in the inning.
Mets at the plate: Lastings Milledge doubled, singled, drove in a run and scored a run in three at-bats. Milledge also had a scare when he was struck on the left side by a Felix Rodriguez fastball in the seventh. After being shaken up, he remained in the game. Milledge's RBI double came in a three-run fifth, when he also scored. Ben Johnson and Ramon Castro each added run-scoring singles in the inning. Anderson Hernandez's RBI single in the second inning gave New York a 1-0 lead. Chip Ambres, who walked, scored from second. Milledge opened the game with a single to left, and he stole second and third, but was stranded.
Marlins on the mound: Scott Olsen worked 5 1/3 innings, giving up four runs on six hits with five strikeouts and three walks. The lefty, who will be the No. 2 starter when the season opens, tossed 90 pitches (50 strikes). The Mets exploited his leg kick with runners on base and stole four times off him.
Mets on the mound: John Maine gave a workmanlike effort, tossing 5 2/3 innings and logging 101 pitches (69 strikes). Projected to be in the Mets' rotation, Maine gave up four runs on 12 hits with five strikeouts and one walk.
Grapefruit League records: Marlins 10-14-2; Mets 9-16-1.
Up next: The Mets take on the Astros at Port St. Lucie at 1:10 p.m. ET on Sunday. Mike Pelfrey is set to start for New York. Wandy Rodriguez will pitch for the Astros.
Florida travels to Fort Myers to take on the Red Sox. Yusmeiro Petit gets the nod for the Marlins, while Boston goes with Josh Beckett.
