Maybin was listed as having "Best Hit for Average, Best Hitting, Best Baserunning and Best Defensive OF" tools.

De La Cruz had Detroit's Best Fastball and Best Curveball.

Miller had Detroit's best Slider.

This trade means Detroit only has Jordan Tata left in the 2007 Top 10 as a pitcher.

Here some info on the players that the Marlins got back:

Cameron Maybin is the prize of this blockbuster deal. He's a multi-tool player with incredible upside. He can impact the game with his speed, power and his defense. He has tremendous bat speed with power to all fields. Cam has plus speed, so he's deadly on the bases. He has very good range and possesses the arm strength needed to play centerfield. Maybin spent the majority of the year in High-A Lakeland where he hit .304/.393/.486 with 10 homeruns and 25 stolen bases in 296 at bats. He got 49 at bats at the major league level but was clearly over matched, hitting .143/.208/.265, but you have to remember this was all as a 20 year old. He's got absolute phenom potential and like Hanley, can hit anywhere in the lineup. He will be your Opening Day centerfielder

Andrew Miller will slide nicely into the 2008 rotation. In 2006, he was the draft’s consensus top talent and Baseball America's College Player of the Year. He slid to Detroit at No. 6 because of signability concerns. There aren't many lefthanders out there who have both Miller's size (6'6) and stuff, as he projects to be a frontline starter. He throws in the mid 90s with ease and has been gunned as high as 98mph. He has a mid-80s slider that is already a plus pitch. Miller also throws a changeup that showed much improvement throughout 2007. In 9 starts in High-A Lakeland, Miller went 1-4 with a 3.32era and a 1.41whip. He dominated once he was promoted to AA Erie, where he went 2-0 with a 0.59era and a 0.88whip in 30.2 innings pitched. Miller saw 64 innings of major league action this year as a 22 year old. he went 5-5 with a 5.63era and a 1.75 whip. Andrew will fit somewhere in the rotation of the Marlins for Opening Day.

Eulogio de la Cruz is the epitome of a fireballer, even though he is just under 6 feet tall. He throws in the high 90s and has hit 100mph on numerous occasions. He has a fantastic curveball in the classic "kneebuckler" mode. Like many hard throwers, control is an issue with Cruz, as he walks a little over 3 per 9. Like Renyel Pinto, Cruz can get out hitter by being "effectively wild". In 38.1 innings of AAA ball, Eulogio went 3-0 with a 3.52era, and a 1.54whip. There were some whispers going around before the trade was made that he could go back to being a starting pitcher. Cruz more than likely begins 2008 in AAA Albuquerque.

Dallas Trahern was drafted in the 34th round of the 2004 drafted because teams believed he was going to play ball at the University of Oklahoma. Trahen's best pitch is a low-90s sinker that he has been able to throw for strikes. Hitters have trouble lifting it, as evidenced by his 3.3 ground/fly ratio in high Class A. His slider is an average pitch that he also keeps down in the zone to get ground balls. He is quite athletic and his delivery is repeatable. When his sinker ball is on, he can be unhittable. This year at AA Erie, Dallas went 12-6 with a 3.87era and a 1.40whip in 162.2 innings pitched. He will spend nearly all of 2008 in AAA Albuquerque.

Burke Badenhop was originally selected in the 19th round of the 2005 draft and wasn't seen as much of a prospect. At 6'5" 220 he looks to have the build of a power picher, but he throws mid to high 80's and is not overpowering.In 2006, he was named the Tigers pitcher of the year. His stuff won't wow anyone, but so far his results have been very impressive. Making 23 starts in High A Lakeland, Burke went 10-6 with a 3.13era and a 1.21whip. He saw a late season promotion to AA Erie and went 2-0 with a 1.45era and a 0.59whip in 18.2 innings. Depending on need, he could be in AA Carolina or AAA Albuquerque this year.

Mike Rabelo doesn't do anything great. Let's face it. He's a 27 year old catcher who made his major league debut just last year. He's a career .263/.332/.346 hitter in the minors, although last year in AAA Toledo, he hit .270/.333/.423. He won't hit for power, he probably won't hit for average. He's a pretty good defensive catcher. Baseball America suggested he was a late bloomer offensively. We shall see. Yea, he makes the Opening Day roster but he's the "least sexy" of the 6 players we got back.

I think this trade should help the team Loria in the long run.
