Joel Sherman of the New York Post is reporting that the New York Yankees projected 2008 payroll is $218.3 million dollars. On the other end of the spectrum the Florida Marlins are at almost $20 million. That is almost a $200, 000, 000 difference! Because of the luxury tax the Marlins will receive $35 million and then another $35 million from baseball's central fund. So a small market team that has a $20 million dollar payroll will get $70 million before ticket one is sold.

I thought you liked Loria?
Owners get a ton of money every year these days. They have no excuse not to spend more money. Thank god Glass figured that out finally.
