The Mariners and the royals both suck. The Mariners suck less. So go with Ichiro and he is just a flat out better player.

That makes ZERO sense. The all-star game is a reward for playing good baseball. REGARDLESS of team.
So far,
DDJ > Ichiro.

Nice intelligent posts there chief... The Royals are an interesting team to watch, with all of their good prospects. I'd watch every Royal game if I could, but I can't. The All-Star game is about picking the best player, regardless of what team they are on. I'd rather watch the "failure" of the Royals than your jackass of a manager. But that's enough with the low blows, because he said absolutely nothing about the team you're a fan of. He was arguing that the team that the player plays for has absolutely nothing to do with who is picked. I agree with him on that point. Don't worry doublestix, I got your back.

Just because Ichiro will be voted in over David Dejesus does not mean he is more deserving. The All-Star game is simply a popularity contest and as long as MLB continues to let the fans vote we will never seen an all-star game with all of the true deserving players.

Then again even the managers might not even know some hidden talent in a 3rd market team like the pirates or devil rays.

Another reason fan voting sucks. Its bad enough the broadcaster board is a NY suckfest, but it doesnt have to be a dam*ned subway series. Beltran is a better player than Rowand. There is an Outfielder better then both of them, Im not going to say who either, just look around.

Sad but true. Then again even the managers might not even know some hidden talent in a 3rd market team like the pirates or devil rays. Your right, Guillen didn't even recognize Grudzielanek's gold glove defense last year and .300 average in favor of Mark f'ing Redman.

Then again even the managers might not even know some hidden talent in a 3rd market team like the pirates or devil rays. First of all, yes, I think Ozzie Guillen is a jackass. I'm sure he's a good manager. But calling sportswriters homos, making fun of his own bullpen pitchers, and calling out the Cardinal pitchers is not acceptable for a manager to do. Before you pull out the "LaRussa is an alcoholic, he got a DUI" card, remember that the DUI incident wasn't baseball related. He did nothing to anyone except embarrass himself. Guillen has way too big of a mouth. Anyway... I guarentee that all managers know the good players of teams like the Devil Rays or Pirates. Before each team has a game, they study the other teams on video for hours (at least I know the Cardinals do). The teams have to know every hitter, every pitcher, their tendancies, their ability... the works. I don't think anyone would be snubbed just because they are from a small market team.

Then which OF were you talking about? The only one I can think of Guerrero. He is a monster hitter but his fielding has declined with age.
