Santana gears up for Opening Day
Ace strikes out five in five innings; Hunter plays long ball

Twins at the plate: Justin Morneau delivered a two-RBI single in the first inning as part of a four-run inning for the Twins. Torii Hunter hit his third home run of the season, a solo shot, in the third. After Hunter's homer, the Twins' bats went silent, as Luis Rodriguez recorded the the club's final hit of the day with a single to right in the fourth inning.
Blue Jays at the plate: It was a day of scoring off sacrifice flies for Toronto, as Matt Stairs and Eric Nielsen each drove in a run courtesy of flyouts early in the game. Toronto's bats then grew quiet until the sixth inning, when two runs scored, thanks in part to a sac fly by Jason Smith. John Schneider then delivered the game-winning run on a sac fly in the top of the ninth.
Twins on the mound: Johan Santana continued readying for Opening Day, giving up two runs on four hits over five innings. He walked two and struck out five in the outing. Right-hander J.D. Durbin struggled in his outing, as he gave up three runs on five hits over two innings. Right-hander Juan Rincon threw two innings and did not allow a hit but gave up one run, walking two batters.
Blue Jays on the mound: Gustavo Chacin pitched six innings, allowing five runs on seven hits while walking three and striking out one. Brian Wolfe and Blaine Neal each pitched a scoreless inning for the Jays.
Grapefruit League records: Twins 11-12-1; Blue Jays 9-11-2
Up next: The Twins will host the Pirates in a 12:05 p.m. CT game on Saturday. Right-hander Carlos Silva will get the start for Minnesota, facing Pittsburgh right-hander Ian Snell. The Blue Jays will head to Tampa on Saturday to face the Yankees in a 12:15 p.m. CT game. The starter for Toronto has yet to be determined.
