Cole Hamels scattered 5 hits over 8 innings and allowed 1 earned run in a masterful job for the Phillies. Unfortunately, Tim Redding allowed only a 2nd inning single to Pedro Feliz and he and the Washington Nationals' bullpen combined to shut the Phils out 1-0 to go 3-0 in the early going. Chad Durbin and JC Romero allowed nothing in .2 and .1 innings respectively but the offense was simply nonexistent tonight as the Phils fall to 0-2.
Small consolation- the '77 team which won 101 hames dropped their first four that year, all at home.
The two teams go at it again tomorrow afternoon at 1:05 in the first Businessperson's Special of the year and the game will mark the debut of the new retro alternative uniforms the Phillies will wear for all home day games the remainder of the season.

Down 0-2 and your best pitchers have already gone. Not looking very good.
