I'm not really sure how anyone could be worried about OF defense when you have Jim Edmonds.

Well, if Edmonds plays CF the way he has in the past, he will be on the DL a long time this year. He throws his body around out there something fierce, and he's definitely wearing down. Take a look at what he could do in StL: youtube.com/watch?v=yxnDc1N-PBE&feature=relatedStatistically, he started his dropoff in '05, then the next two seasons were marred by injury (110 and 117 games, 101 K in 350 AB (!) in 2006). His bat has slowed, he's been having leg trouble, which will slow him in the field. But will part of a Jim Edmonds be better than Hairston in center? Maybe. Haven't seen a ST game with Hairston out there yet... looking forward to Opening Day.

Whether or not Jim Edmonds gets injured is a different story...as long as he stays healthy, they should have absolutely no problems in the OF. But even without him, they're not so bad....Hairston could cover CF well.

Or even Callix Crabbe (see story link in his post). Just for the name alone, I'm pulling for him.

And there's the never-ending rumor that the Padres are going to trade for Crisp... but I'm not sure I'd make the swap for Covelli... I want to see how Edmonds/Crabbe/Hairston handles CF... Crisp has some speed and a good glove, but his bat isn't SO impressive that I'd make that swap straight away...
