Ichiro Suzuki is 0 for 21 in Spring Training thus far...
But if you ask me who's going to lead the league in hits--I'll say Ichiro Suzuki with high confidence.
Thoughts?

When a guy rips it up in ST, it almost makes me nervous. Logically, it should be a great sign, and for a veteran, it generally is. However, there are plenty of examples of guys trying to make the team, maybe guys without any options left, who kill in ST. The Padres had Termell Sledge last year... he was on fire in ST, then could barely hit a blooper ball or stay on his feet in the field once the bell rang. Now he's in Japan. Say-o-na-ra!

But Ichiro is not someone to worry about. He is a 200-hit machine. I'm just sorry he didn't start out in MLB - he would dethrone Pete Rose easily.

It's actually a better sign if a younster is performing well in ST than if a veteran is...youngsters are more unpredictable, and they try their hardest during Spring Training--especially since they need to if they wanna make the team or hold their spot at many times. Veterans, on the other hand, don't just suddenly start ripping up the league when they've been average or so...Spring Training stats shouldn't be taken too seriously...
