ARLINGTON -- The Rangers have agreed to terms with relief pitcher Joaquin Benoit on a two-year contract, the club announced on Wednesday.
Benoit was eligible for arbitration this winter and would have been eligible for free agency after the 2008 season. But the Rangers were eager to lock him up after he stepped up and became one of their top relievers in 2007.
Benoit was 7-4 with a 2.85 ERA in 70 games this season. In 82 innings, he allowed 68 hits and 28 walks with 87 strikeouts.

Its big when a good pitcher agree on a contract to play half of their games at Rangers Ballpark.
