After Don Wakamatsu was hired away by the rival Oakland (soon to be Fremont) A's, the Rangers are now looking for a replacement 3B/Catchers coach. Jerry Narron (former Red's manager) had expressed some interest, but after a conversation with GM Jon Daniels, former manager Jerry Narron decided not to pursue the Rangers' open third-base coaching job. ... The Rangers have added former catchers Sandy Alomar Jr. and Matt Walbeck to the list of candidates for the open spot on the coaching staff. Former Oakland coach Brad Fischer will also interview for the job.
While I personally am stunned that they have expressed interest in Sandy Alomar Jr. I see Matt Welbeck or Brad Fischer beating him out.
