Depending on who you talk to, Jeremy Accardo will be the Blue Jays' set up man this season.
Toronto's General Manager J.P. Ricciardi wasn't giving away any secrets when asked if Accardo has the job. Ricciardi said Accardo's "in the mix" for the set-up role should B.J. Ryan be healthy enought to take over as closer.
Blue Jays manager John Gibbons was more forthcoming when asked about where he planned on using Accardo.
"That's Accardo's," Gibbons told MLB.com on Tuesday. "But everything is going to revolve around B.J. If B.J. is healthy, that's Accardo's job. Then, of course, Jeremy will fill in to close some games when Ryan's not available."
Accardo settled into the closer's role last year after B.J. Ryan went down for the season with elbow problems. The right-hander finished the season with 30 saves and a 2.14 ERA.
