for awards at this point in the season...
AL Cy Young - Dan Haren - Yes he is definitely due for some regression, but I think he is so far out in front. AL MVP - Alex Rodriguez - Also, he's way way out in front in this race. AL ROY - Dice-K - Pitching pretty well, plus he's in Boston and that's a plus for him.
NL Cy Young - Cole Hamels - I think this kid is for real and his changeup is absolutely nasty. NL MVP - Prince Fielder - Like the AL, I don't think there's anyone close at this point. MCab is close but his defense is bad and I count that. NL ROY - Troy Tulowitzki - I think he's poised for a big 2nd half of the year.

I agree with you all around, except for NL CY Young. I'd probably give it to Peavy.

AL Cy Young- Dan Haren (Absolutely dominating right now) AL MVP- Magglio Ordonez (He had a good year last year and is tearing it up more than A-Rod) AL ROTY- Daisuke Matsuzaka (His numbers are so-so now but he'll know the hitters better in the 2nd half)
NL Cy Young- Jake Peavy (Absolutely dominating right now) NL MVP- Jose Reyes (yeah, the rest of the lineup is very good on paper but its not doing a whole lot. The increase of his BA, SB, and BB from last year are profound) NL ROTY- (No clue)

AL CY: Haren AL MVP: A-Rod AL ROY: Jeremy Guthrie
NL CY: Peavy NL MVP: Holliday NL ROY: Hunter Pence
(Note: I am going by who I think will be most deserving at the end of the season, not necessarily who the voters will actually pick.)

AL ROTY- The hitters will also know him better in the 2nd half, which may work against him.

RBI is more indicitive of the opportunites that a player receives rather than being a gauge of a hitter's actual skill. Look at Ruben Sierra's 1993 season. He had 101 RBI despite being one of the worst offensive players in baseball that year.

AL MVP- 70 rbi isn't enough for you? AL ROTY- The hitters will also know him better in the 2nd half, which may work against him. As Star Man said, RBIs are a useless measure of a player's value. If Jeter didn't have a 400 OBP, A-Rod would probably have 10-15 fewer RBIs. The pitcher ALWAYS has the advantage over the hitter. Johan Santana went 10-1 with a 2.54 ERA in the 2nd half last year and yet the hitters had seen him more often.

It can work both ways IMO...sometimes a rookie pitcher will dominate for a month or two and then will struggle once the league has seen him more and has more scouting reports on him.

Dice K isn't exactly dominating though.

Dice K isn't exactly dominating though. I wasn't referring to Dice-K specifically but pitchers in general. Guess I got off topic a little bit...
