Lincecum really has been struggling as of late, posting a 5.88 ERA. Bailey, in 3 starts, has has a 4 ERA. Last night vs. Oakland, he went 7 innings, giving up 1 run and 2 hits. Lincecum, vs. the brewers went 4 innings, giving up 6 runs on 5 hits.

Bailey. He looks less injury prone and has done better.

Bailey also.
I'm still not convinced Lincecum can go 200 innings with his very small stature. Bailey has better command of the fastball too, even though they both don't have great command of the fastball.
Bailey will show flashes of dominance this year and next year but his stats won't be much better than league average. I expect him to really break out and be the ace of the Reds staff in 2009.

i would have to pick Homer Bailey right now. But Tim Lincecum will be a good pitcher in the future too.

I'll go Bailey also. He actually has pretty good command of his 94-95 fastball this year from what I've seen in his first 3 starts. His problem, which the reds already knew from AAA is that he needs to learn how to control his change up and curve ball. Right now, he just needs to keep throwing his fastball the majority of the time. But, when he finally learns how to control his off-speed stuff, he is going to be dominant.

Whitey Ford was 5'11 I believe. He's the only HoF'er who is under 6'. Pedro will be once he is elected into it. A short, dominating pitcher does come around once in a lifetime. We won't know if Lincecum is the next great, short ace until he's pitched about 500 innings. After that you get an idea on how he will pan out.

I think it's pretty funny how much certain people in this thread are basing off of these guys' small sample sizes of ML performance. You should be looking more at things like MiL stats, age, and stuff to properly evaluate these pitchers. I'll go with Lincecum here although you can't go wrong with either of these guys.

I think he's more like Oswalt than Pedro. Linecum has a bad delivery and is a small guy, but that doesn't automatically mean he'll eventually injure himself.
