He was going to coach, not manage (thank God). Grady Little will probably take his place.

They chose managers of teams from the post season. La Russa is the manager b/c the Cards won the NL pennant. Bochy and Willie were chosen b/c the Padres and Mets won their division. I would assume since Willie can't they go with Grady Little since the Dodgers won the Wild Card.

It's not a rule to pick the playoff coaches. But I'm sure Leyland and LaRussa decided to do it that way because it's a nice gesture and it makes it easier to decide who to pick.

I would pick someone like Buddy Black, Bob Melvin, or Ned Yost for the NL manager

I would have as well. No knock on Fredi Gonzalez, but it's his first year managing and the Marlins aren't exactly flying high right now. My best guess as to why he was picked b/c he may be like Willie in that he's calm and is a player's manager.

Maybe he's trying to get nice with the Marlins so they'll trade us Miguel and Dontrelle easier... Just sayin...

Dontrelle is vastly overrated and in a few years Cabrera will be too fat to walk from 3rd base to the dugout.

Well first of all, I was joking. But I love Dontrelle, and Cabrera is a top 3 hitter in the game IMO.

Cabrera isn't a top 3 hitter. Unless his name is really Vlad Guerrero, A-Rod, or Magglio Ordonez.

Ordonez might be having a top 3 year. But no way is he in the top three in terms of talent. And did you really just put Magglio ahead of Albert? Hell, Beltrans a better hitter than Magglio.
I'd say A-Rod, Pujols, Cabrera, Vlad, and then Manny in terms of talent.

I thought you meant this season. Even still out of every active player Guerrero, A-Rod, and Pooholes are the top 3 hitters out of everyone.
