I thought he deserved his own thread...
Volquez pitched 5.1 innings against the Phillies allowing just 1 run and striking out 8 in his MLB debut. Very impressive.
He faced the Phillies twice in Spring Training and he allowed just 1 run in 10 innings.
This kid has tremendous K potential--and could poissibly be even better than Cueto.

the thing that makes him great is his FB CHG differential:
fastball- sits around 94, can go to 97
change- usually around 81, can go down to 78

I'm starting to think he's better than Cueto...

haha, that's pretty funny. When he pitches, his hair isn't really like that, unfortunately

I liked this trade for the Reds when they first made it and I still like it.

It was good for both teams, I think.

It was good for both teams, I think. How the hell was it good for the Rangers? They have no pitching whatsoever.

7 innings, 1 run, 10 strikeouts outing yesterday, lowering his ERA to 1.23. Pretty impressive. You can see why he could struggle with his control problems, but so far, he hasn't regressed.
Johnny Cueto has, but that's pretty understandable.
