TAMPA, Fla. -- Toronto Blue Jays closer B.J. Ryan finished his rehab assignment with class A Dunedin Wednesday night with a perfect inning against Tampa.
Ryan struck out two and threw 10 of his 13 pitches for strikes.
"I move the ball around better, both sides of the plate tonight," Ryan said, "I had some pretty good sliders. The third time with a day off in between I felt pretty good."
Ryan now moves to triple-A Syracuse to continue his rehab. He said he expects to pitch on Friday.
Ryan, who signed a US$55-million, five-year contract with Toronto on November 28, 2005, appeared in just five games in 2007. He was 0-2 with a 12.48 era and three saves before season ending ligament replacement surgery to his left elbow May 10.
The year before, Ryan saved 38 games in 42 chances with a 1.37 ERA.
