Well, tonight we will see the much anticipated pitchers' duel between the Philadelphia Phillies' young lefty Cole Hamels and the New York Mets' veteran southpaw Johan Santana. Here are some pertinent stats to consider going into the ballgame:
Hamels - 22 IP; .082 ERA; 0.82 WHIP; .214 OBA; 2.14 K/BB; 2.86BB/9; 6.14K/9; 4.50H/9
Santana - 20.2 IP 3.05 ERA; 0.97 WHIP; .250 OBA; 4.50 K/BB; 1.74BB/9; 7.84K/9; 6.97H/9
Current Mets are 20 for 86 (.233) with 25 K's off Hamels. Delgado, Wright, Beltran(2) and Pagan have homered off him.
Current Phillies are 4 for 20 (.200) with 9 K's off Santana. He has only faced Jenkins, Burrell, Feliz and Rollins on the 2008 roster. Here is the scouting report from MLB.com:
The Phils are 8-8 on the season and are scoring 4.65 runs per game. The Mets have an 8-6 record and have scored an average of 5.14 runs a game. The top of the order is unable to play for the Phils with Rollins out of town and Victorino on the DL, but they scored 10 runs in yesterday's win over the Astros, plugging Taguchi and Dobbs into the leadoff and 2 hole respectively. Prevailing wisdom is that Jayson Werth will lead off and Pedro Feliz will bat 2nd in tonight's ballgame.
The Mets are coming off a 14 inning win over the Washington Nationals which ended after midnight while the Phils played a day game. The Mets are on a 3 game winning streak and the Phils are on a two series winning streak.
Lotta hype for this one; here's hoping the actual game lives up to the publicity.

Scouting Report:
Mets: Santana lost his second straight decision last Saturday against the Brewers, serving up three home runs in his worst outing yet as a Met. Extending his pitch count to 113, Santana struck out seven and walked two, though the homers accounted for four of the five runs against him. He'll make his first appearance in this rivalry with the Phillies on Friday night, and will also make his career debut at Citizens Bank Park.
Phillies: Hamels is coming off a win over the Cubs, in which he threw seven innings of scoreless one-hit ball. The lefty has been the Phillies' most reliable starter in the early weeks of 2008, turning in three quality starts in three outings. The 2007 All-Star didn't face the Mets during the Phillies' most recent trip to Shea Stadium, but he is 1-1 with a 2.77 ERA against them in four career starts.
