They should have traded him and allowed the new team to negotiate a new deal. That was what kept them from getting a new offer.

I was hoping that he would re-sign with the Sox, because it would just be a waste for the Yankees to try and sign him because noone can really help the Yankees at this point. Even though the Yankees are only about 10 behind the Red Sox. Plus they haven't been going on many streaks so far...

Yeah, and it's actually more like 20 games because if the Yankees win AND the Red Sox lose then the Yankees still have only gotten one game closer.
