Braves get 3 off Kendrick in the first, but he settles down and keeps them scorelines for the next 5 innings with an inning of help from JC Romero. Meanwhile Jayson Werth drove in 4 and Ryan Howard chipped in an RBI and the Phils lead it 5-3 in the top of the 8th.

Tom Gordon pitching for the Phillies in the 8th. Flash has his ERA down to 3.86 after giving up 5 earnies in his first 1/3 of an inning. He gets the Braves out without allowing a run. 5-3 Phils. bottom 8.

Phils retired without incident in the 8th. Lidge on to close it, Phils up 5-3.

Escobar - K's. Kotsay - walks. Chipper - flyout to left. Kotsay takes 2nd on D.I. McCann hits one over Werth's head, Kotsay scores. Victorino might have caught it. 5-4 Phils, 2 out in the 9th. First earned run of the year for Lidge. Norton - walks on 4 pitches. 2 on 2 out. Francouer - foul, called strike 2, slider in the dirt, flies out to Victorino in right. 10th save for Lidge, Phils win 5-4.

Phils gain a full game on the Fish who dropped their 2nd in a row to the Reds, 5-3. The Phillies are 22-18 and the Marlins are 23-16.

The Marlins arn't looking too good. Yesterday they beat them self to end their 7 games winning streak, signifying a possible upcoming slump, today it was excusable with the Reds starting pitcher, just never made a come back with that small ballpark.
