Let's say the Phillies are playing the Braves.
Cole Hamels starts for the Phillies, goes four innings, giving up no runs and no hits and leaves the game with the Phillies leading 11-0. Clay Condrey pitches the fifth, giving up two runs. The score is now 11-2. Antonio Alfonseca pitches the sixth, giving up two runs. The score is now 11-4. J.C. Romero pitches the seventh, giving up two runs. The score is now 11-6. Tom Gordon pitches the eighth, giving up two runs. The score is now 11-8. Brett Myers pitches the ninth, giving up two runs. The game ends with the Phillies winning 11-10.
Which pitcher gets credit for the win for the Phillies?

Yeah. If Hamels had pitched the 5th inning, he would have gotten the win.
