Junior gets a start against the lefty Hamels today. Phils are 7-2 on their home stand and have a chance to end it 8-2 with a victory today. If they are to do it, Hamels will have to reverse the trend of his last two starts. His ERA has ballooned from 2.61 to 3.73 as he gave up 13 earned runs in his last 9-2/3 innings. The Phils bailed him out in the first one by piling it on the Astros 15-6, but Hamels took the loss in his latest start. The current Reds are 5 for 36 with 17 punchouts off Hamels, while the Phils hammered Homer Bailey the last time they saw him, to the tune of 6 ER in 1-2/3 innings in which they went 6 for 10 off him. So Taguchi, who was not on the team for that game, is also 2 for 3 off Bailey.

Well, the Phils capitalize on some errors by the Reds and get a 3 hit shutout from Cole Hamels as they defeat the Reds 5-0. Jimmy Rollins was pulled from the game for not hustling out his pop up which went for an error, but Eric Bruntlett did an admirable job filling in, making one spectacular shutout preserving play in the 8th. Good day capping off a good home stand for the Phils.
