A Recap Position by position.
Catcher:
Maybe the only position that the White Sox have no questions at. AJ Pierzynski is having a great great year offensively and defensively. He calls a great game and as a backup we have Toby Hall who some how manages to go 3/3 everytime he is in the lineup.
Overall Ranking: A
1st Base: Cholesterol on the base paths. Paul Konerko is hitting 215 and has been injured he has not helped th team one bit all he has done his hurt the team He is slow so it prevents us from having decent speed in the middle of the line up. The White Sox were 13-7 hen he was injured now they are 3-3 since he came back.
Overall Rank: C-
2nd Base: What a surprise Alexei "The Cuban Missile" Rameriz has been coming from Cuba and starting the season in AAA faced some early season trouble batting but has caught fire and is hitting 305 with 7 home runs and boy does he fly don the line. He is on web gems daily if he needs a day off we have a solid backup in Juan Uribe great fielding power and a good arm.
Position Rank: B+
Shortstop: Orlando "O.C." Cabrera has done an exceptional job hitting .270 he gives us decent speed at the top of the lineup. and nothing less than a quality at bat every time up. Just like at second we can play Juan Uribe as a backup.
Position Rank: B
3rd Base: Joe Crede has not been the same since his back injury although he was an all star he has not been a great defensive player making some great catches but some easy plays turn into errors. If he finds a defensive groove he will starting playing great.
Overall Position Rank: C+
Left Field: Carlos Quentin is an RBI machine getting a lot of walk-off and clutch RBIs this haf he slumped a little bit at the end off June but is now in a great offensive swing and will continue to be a big factor in the third spot in the lineup. A great backup in Dewayne Wise he has great speed and good hitting against right handed pitching.
Overall Position Rank: A
Center Field: Nick Swisher has played a little bit below expectations but brings energy to the clubhouse. Brian Anderson is a good defensive backup and provides some clutch hits.
Overall: B
Right Field: Jermaine "The Janitor" Dye is having a great year and has made some good plays in right. Brian Anderson coves for him as a backup so RIght Field is a very strong position for us.
Overall: B
Starting Pitching: One of the best Pitching Staffs in baseball. Gavin Floyd has taken a no-hitter into the ninth 2 times. And has a team best 10 wins. Its his first pennant race so he may fade from being tired or too much pressure but if thats not the case he will do great. John Danks has one of the best ERAs in baseball and has throw about 100 pitches in each start so I think he will need to take a few starts off in the second half to rest hopefully Adam Russel or Lance Broadway will be able to pitch good games when he needs a rest. Mark Buehrle is having a Mark Buehrle season hitting his spots and pitching out of jams he has been in 3 pennant chases now so he knows how it goes. Jose Contreras will need t take every few starts off because he is almost 40 so Nick Masset or Adam Russel will need to step it up. Javier Vazquezis having a good season if he is consistent we will be solid in starting pitching.
Overall Rank: A-
Relieve Pitching: Now that Bobby Jenks is healthy Scott Linebrink will be able to go back to his more comfortable setup roll Boone Logan and Matt Thorton ill be back to there old selves with the all star break rest.
Overall: B+
