SEATTLE (AP) -- What seemed a harmless foul ball could be a little more serious for Baltimore center fielder Adam Jones.
Orioles' manager Dave Trembley said after Sunday's game in Seattle that Jones had X-rays on his left foot and the results were inconclusive. Jones fouled a ball off his foot during Saturday night's game against Seattle and woke up Sunday unable to walk on it.
Jones will have a CT scan on his foot Monday in Anaheim before the Orioles open a three-game series against the Angels.
"We have to wait and see what happens," Trembley said. "I'm not smart enough to know whether it's a long-term injury or not, but I would be concerned because he was not able to play today."
Trembley was planning not to start his young center fielder on Sunday, but when the X-rays came back inconclusive, he scratched any thought of using Jones as a late-game replacement. Jones wore a protective boot in the clubhouse after the game.
"It is not comfortable," Jones said. "I would be able to play if it was comfortable. I woke up this morning and it was hurting."
Acquired by Baltimore as part of the trade that sent Erik Bedard to Seattle, Jones had three hits on Saturday night and is hitting .326 in his last 31 games. Since June 1, Jones is hitting .308, helping raise his overall batting average from .245 to .279.
"It was big not having him in the lineup today," Trembley said.
