Larry Bowa did it in 1980Only J Roll meant something completely different by it. Bowa meant exactly what he said when he called the Phillies' fans:

That doesn't make what Rollins did any less stupid.
BTW, was Larry Bowa punished by his manager for not hustling to first or showing up late to games that season?

Well I don't think it was stupid, I think Rollins is exactly right about the most audible fans in the area, and I think Larry Bowa was probably right about the loudest fans back then. The difference is that Bowa was revered in Philly and practically mourned when he got canned as manager. The point is, it seems they forgot the mass insult by the Bowa back in '80, and they'll forget about Rollins' statement if the Phils win anything this year. As for Rollins actions this year, don't take anything I've said as an endorsement of his play this year. It has been way under expectations, and the lateness was duly and rightly dealt with. I honestly don't think he's 100%, but if we are to believe him, this is about the way the fans have treated his teammates and not him. I see no reason not to believe it.

Anyone see that video of Larry Bowa when he was young calling the umpire "a fuking cu-nt" during a game back in 1984? It used to be on youtube but it was taken down, I've tried looking for it but couldn't find it. It's freaking hilarious, anyone know where I can find it?
