I don't believe the Blue Jays can compete with New York and Boston this year. Boston has gotten significantly better with the signings of japanese SP Daisuke Matsuzaka, SS Julio Lugo, and RF JD Drew. The Yankees haven't gotten a lot better, but they haven't gotten worse either.
The Blue Jays have slid...a little. Royce Clayton? Please, surely you can get someone who hits better than .235 with no power and little defense left in his system. They struck out on trying to sign Ted Lilly and Gil Meche. Lilly's departure will hurt, especially when the alternatives are Tomo Ohka and Dustin McGowan. Adam Lind is a stud prospect who had a AAA OPS of 1.092 and a brief big league stint, where his OPS was 1.015. Those are stunning numbers, and he's being blocked by injury freak Frank Thomas.
The Blue Jays will need too many things to come together this season. I just don't see their rotation being strong enough to compete with the other teams offenses in the AL EAST.

I think that the blue jays hav deffinatly improved their team, but im not sure if its enough. I think it started with them signing A.J Burnett last year, even if overpaid, I still think he’s a pretty good #2 pitcher, if he can stay healthy. Obviously, they still have 1 of the top pitchers in the game in Roy Halladay. They also signed Tomo Ohka to sure up the back end of the rotation. They locked down some good players in Vernon Wells(7 years 126 mil) and Lyle Overbay(4 years). With all this said, I still think the Jays will come in 3rd this year, unless matsuzaka turns out to be a dud and J.D gets injured, then I think that boston could fall to 3rd and the blue jays will come in 2nd, but either way, I don’t see them finishing with more than 86 wins. Also, on doublstix argument, I guess he dosent realize that Dustin McGowen is a top grade prospect. I’d rather have Dustin McGowen on my team as the #4 starter than Lilly, even at the young age. I think every1 sees the contract Lilly signed and thinks he’s a very good pitcher, he’s an average pitcher and way overpayed.

I gotta be honest, I was pretty bummed when McGwire fell way short of the HOF. I didn’t expect him to make it, but I thought he would get more votes than 24.6 percent. I believe that a lot of people were using steroids during McGwire’s career, so I don’t think McGwire had a real advantage. McGwire brought hope to St. Louis during rough times with the great HR chase of ’98 where he ended with 70 and the record, which has since been broken(73 by Barry Bonds in ’01). I also respect McGwire because he was using LEGAL performance enhancers and when they were banned, he realized he was getting old and would have a pretty big drop-off without them, so he retired.

1st off…HOF coach, 1st ballot, plain and simple. Secondly, Parcells had a great career, taking 4 different teams to the playoffs and 2 to the Super Bowl. Parcells was a great coach, with a great method of coaching and made his players adopt a good work ethic. He was a strict disciplinarian who demanded respect from his players. He finishes his career with a record of 183-138-1. On this note also, T.O was quoted saying that the cowboys are better off without parcels, which is absolute nonsense. Great career by parcels, and have a happy retirement.

I think any player from this era should not be punished for this being the era of steroids. Innocent until proven guilty I say. Mark McGwire finished his career with 583 homes! He has been proven of no wrong doings. I can't blame him for not being stubborn in court, why would you want to talk about the past, when doing this stuff was legal in baseball? I have respect for this guy, he was a great baseball player and was great for the fans. The fact that reporters are not voting because they think he did things is downright ludicris. Get him in there!! I could understand an arguement for keeping a guy like Rafael Palmeiro (569 HR's) out of the hall of fame, he got suspended for steroids himself! He was a proven cheater, he can say all he wants that he didn't do anything, but the tests speak for themselves! Bonds...innocent till proven guilty. He's not been proven of jack yet, we THINK he did it, but the truth is, nobody is 100% certain. By the time he is eligible, we should know a lot more than we do now though. If he isn't proven to have done anything, I think there is no reason the single season HR champion (73) and probably home run king of all team should not get into the hall of fame. McGwire got 23.5 of the vote.

The Big Tuna was one of the best coaches of all time. He went to troubled franchises and turned them into playoff teams. He was 1 of only 5 coaches to take 2 different teams to the super bowl. He took 4 teams to the playoffs, which were the only 4 teams he ever was the head coach with, the Giants, Patriots, Jets, and Cowboys, in that order. Parcells was a old school coach that demanded the respect of his players, he managed to keep the troublesome Lawrence Taylor and Terrell Owens under control for the most part.
Of his former assistant coaches, 7, yes 7 of them are currently head coaches today in the NFL or in College.
Bill Bellicheck - Patriots Tom Couglin - Giants Romeo Crennel - Browns Sean Payton - Saints Eric Mangini - Jets Al Groh - University of Virginia Charlie Weis - Notre Dame
That is quite a feat!
Parcells should be a slam dunk hall of famer with the career line of 183-138-1, 8 various coach of the year awards, 3 conference championships, and 2 superbowls.
