Target wins naming rights to Twins new stadium

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- The Minnesota Twins' new ballpark will be called Target Field.

The team and Target Corp. announced Monday an agreement in principle on an exclusive 25-year partnership that includes naming rights to the Twins' new stadium, scheduled to open in 2010.

Target and the Twins also will collaborate on the design of Target Plaza, a pedestrian bridge and public gathering space connecting Target Field to downtown Minneapolis.

Financial terms were not released.

The Twins and Minneapolis-based Target also plan to jointly develop a variety of marketing and promotional programs.

It's the second sports venue named after the retailer. The NBA's Minnesota Timberwolves play in the Target Center in the Minneapolis.

The Twinkies will automatically lose about five wins when the move to that park. They get waaaaay too many cheap ass hits off that turf.

The Metradome is a TerrorDome for the White Sox, Its like a "Dead Zone" for them the pitching craps out, the hitting is not clutch. The the Twins seem to execute 10 Times better when they play there. Its going to be a happy day when they move out of the MetraDome.

I do not like this in my opinion..You should name a stadium on behalf of someone from the Organization or something twins related.

Its all about the money and this sponcership pays a lot to have their product advertise on a stadium name.
