I few weeks ago, I finally realized something. Why does everybody think this guy is a great manager. He had 1 78 win season. And yeah, I know that he did that with a pretty bad team, and they went on a run. This guy is worth a shot, and I would have been happy if the reds got him, but everyone is acting like this guy is up there with Torre, La Russa, Socia, and etc.

His Pros: He's a good player motivater, this year Marlins collapse with Fredi Gonzaliz shows it. The positive motivation from Joe Girardi may make break the ice next time the Yankees are in the playoff. Don't forget Joe Girardi has a history with the Yankees. From working with the Yes Network now, to work as the Yankees assistance manager next to Joe Torre, to being a former backup catcher for the Yankees. He's has manager experience when he manage the Marlins last year, so he may learn from his past mistake. His tendancy as manager is he likes to play low ball and try to avoid arguement with the umpire unless he must to protect his players from getting thrown out from the game. With that said, here his cons as a manager: The Yankees is a very different team compare to the Marlins. This guy seem to abuse the low ball playing style. He'll even take it to a whole new level when he make players like Olivo and Cabrera to bunt on the 2nd or 3rd inning when this players are not even expert on that field. He going have to change that when he go to Yankees, because the Yankees lineup are all power hitters playing in the America League. Girardi will also make questionable move when it comes to substituting players and handling the bullpen from time to time. He seem clueless too when it comes to handling starting pitching too. So pretty much his bad when it comes to making decisions during the game. Its really rare to see Girardi go face to face with an umpire. You would see players argue to the umpire on badly blown call, and then would look back to their dugout to see where Girardi in all this. It was this that ultimately got Girardi fired. Relief Pitcher Taylor Takersley threw which look like a meatball for a strike with the count of 2-2 with basas loaded, but the batter didn't swing. The umpire call it ball in that critical situation, Loria shouted to the umpire about that extreme questionable call but Girardi told his own boss to be quiet. And that got him the boot out of the clubhouse after September. Girardi is doesn't like to listion to people, so it is going be hard for owner to control him.

I think Giradi will be the next manager of the Yankees. I mean of coarse La Russa is out there as well. But maybe Steinbrenner sees a thing for him. Remember, in 2005 Steinbrenner asked Giradi if he would ever be interested in the Yanks. Does anyone remember that? At least I am sure thats what happened.
