Kenny Lofton. Do I really need to explain why? He's 40, but can field and bat leadoff really well... Something they'll need once Hanley is pressed down to No.3 or 4 in the lineup...
Reggie Sanders: Jeremy Hermida is one divit away from a DL Stint... Who's the capable back-up... He can be that person...
Jeff Conine: See What I said about Sanders... If Reggie gets too much, here's someone who may take less money and can play one year and retire with the team that made his career... Also would have a platoon role with Jacobs...
Cliff Floyd: If Conine retires and Sanders is too expensive... Why not? We need a decent back-up to oft-injured Hermida! Could help back-up Jacobs... He HAS played 1st before...
Kris Benson, Matt Clement, Bartolo Colon, Jason Jennings, Mark Redman, Steve Trachsel: One or two of these guys'll be signed in hopes they can do something somewhat decent... No, they are not "nice signings", but ones of high probability...

What makes you think that Lofton will sign a $1.5M /yr contract with a team like the Marlins? Reggie Sanders: What are you smoking? I'm guessing you never bother watching the 2nd half of the season. potential, after painfully watching this guy hitting grounders for 1 1/2 years, and made me wonder if Hermida and the marlins scouting department have a very close relationship, Hermida has FINALLY shown some real potential in the 2nd half of the season by changing his batting stance to hit those hard line drives over the outfielders. He also improve his defense too, making ESPN highlights from time to time. Leave Hermida, Sanders defense is equally bad to last year version of Hermida. Jeff Conine: He already made his retirement speech. Beside the reason why he left the Marlins in the first place was to play with a playoff team. Only shot we have with him is hire him as our coach or manager in the future. Cliff Floyd: He already said he will refuse to play as bench warmer. GL finding a team that will start you Floyd. Who's left? Bunch of minimal wages and no name players. What to expect this off-season you may ask? The goodbye speech from Cabrera that will be heard soon. Cabrera and the FO doesn't get along well, especially last season when Cabrera won the arbitration for about $2M more. The FO didn't take it well and pick on Cabrera. Expect to get an all-star player in return. There have been talk that the FO is also interested in dealing with 2B Dan Uggla so they can trade 3B Cabrera for 2B Howie Kendrick. What I'm really worry is what will happen in the 2008 off-season. That's where the arbitration hell will come loose.

Troll, Conine signing with his hometown team for one year to close his career makes sense... What harm could come of it for him??? And Loria doesnt run a MLB organization... but Beinfest does.
