Name: Beinfest
Team: Florida Marlins
Style: Get the most out of young talent as possible to save as much money as possible for the stadium
Intelligence: He does seem to know who to target as some of the small contract signing turn out really well. Rate it: 5
Fans Approval: He got really popular after the 2006 season, but before the 2007 season began, but after last year off-season disappointment, he lost a couple of fans approval. Rate It: 4
Overall Rating: 9
Any other comments: only guy I like from the Marlins front office.

Name: John Mozeliak
Team: St. Louis Cardiinals
Style: To be Determined
Intelligence: Seems to be a fairly intelligent person. Rate it: 3
Fans Approval: The jury is out on him from the fans point of view. We'll give him the benefit of the doubt Rate It: 3
Overall Rating: 6
Any other comments: He'll be wanting to make a name for himself, given how new he is.
FORMER GM:
Name: Walt Jocketty
Team: St. Louis Cardinals
Style: Use prospects besides your highly touted prospects to get help for the major league club leading to a very successful major league club with not much of a depth in the farm system.
Intelligence: Extremely intelligent in terms of baseball. He's one of the most respected people inside the game. Rate it: 5
Fans Approval: Let's see here, 8 playoff appearances in 13 years as GM of the Cardinals. St. Louis has the most wins in the NL since 2002. Fans loved some of the players that Walt Jocketty brought to the Cardinals like Scott Rolen, Jim Edmonds, Daryll Kile RIP, Chris Carpenter, Albert Pujols, Izzy, Jeff Suppan, and the list can go on and on of fan favorites brought during the reign of Jocketty. Rate It: 5
Overall Rating: 10
Any other comments: I don't think there is any quesiton that the Cardinals made a bold move when they fired Walt Jocketty as GM, when he was the majority of fans, even average at best fans, knew who Jocketty was.

Name: Omar Minaya
Team: New York Mets
Style: Big signings, small trades
Intelligence: 2
Fans Approval: 3.5
Overall Rating: 6
Comments: Probably the most overrated GM in baseball. He does nothing except make big signings (which have been awful since Pedro and Beltran) and make small trades (the only ones which have been successful are the ones that yielded Perez, Maine, and El Duque). I'm not counting trading for Delgado and Lo Duca b/c those were fire sales. He failed to improve the team from 2006 to 2007 and is on pace to do the same in 2008. If he doesn't land an ace starter in a trade, he should be gone. If by some stroke of luck Maine or Perez step up to become that ace, then Minaya is VERY lucky.

Until Minaya has done a big trade that gets this team what it needs (an ace), his success is limited to 5 signings/trades. Wake up and smell the coffee, he didn't address their needs in 2007 and he's showing the same unwillingness to improve the team this offseason. The window for them winning the World Series (or even multiple WS) is closing fast.

That's why they need to go after him this off-season or trade for someone like Dan Haren, Erik Bedard, or Scott Kazmir.

The Yankees could come in and swoop him away with a huge offer. That's why you need to trade for him now and give him a 7 yr, $130M extension. Fill it with GG, SS (he hit well in interleague), ASG, MVP, and CYA bonuses. He's worth it and is the missing piece to the puzzle.

Find me a link to where he says that. I've read just about everything that has the name Santana in it (even if it was Ervin Santana) and have never read that he wants to play for the Mets.
