most people don't realize that this doesn't just give the Reds a good closer. It backs everyone up a spot. The Reds right now have three bullpen pitchers I'm ok with, not including Cordero. Weathers goes back into his best position, which is the 8th, Burton in 7th, and Bray in 6th. Also, this helps if the Reds decide to go young with the rotation. They don't have to go as far

It's way too much money. The Reds should not have given him such a big contract. They're not going anywhere next year. Once again, a bad team with awful management ruins the market for other teams.

They are not very bad, especially considering their in the NL Central. They have many new young players emerging, and are one starting pitcher away from going to the playoffs. You act like the Reds are a bunch of idiots that don't know what their doing. Don't blame them for wanting to get a great closer. This is their first big signing ever. Their is no reason why they should consider how it will affect the market for other teams

They're bad enough to not be competitive next year. The whole NL Central was out of whack last year. The Cardinals had no pitching and the Cubs had no hitting. The Astros also had a downright awful year.
They obviously have no need to think about how much they're fucking up the market. No team does. It still doesn't mean fans can't be pissed a bad team is making everything worse.
The Reds really don't know what they're doing. They could trade Griffey to get some young guys but they don't. They could have traded Dunn at the deadline the past 2 years but didn't. Their relievers are too old or suck. Now they've given a guy in his 30's a big, 4 year deal when it's very clear they have too many other problems and won't be competitive for most of his contract.

they do know what they're doing. They were going to trade Dunn to Washington last year, but at the last moment Bowden declined it. GRiffey might not bring back enough of a return. I really don't see why you are so against the Reds

Ugh. Thanks Reds for fucking up the market even more. Yeah, signing Mota to that sweet contract did wonders to the market for middle relievers. Every team makes bad contracts. The Reds addressed a need. Why the fuck should they care about how it affects the market for closers? CORDERO: So, I guess it's a done deal now? REDS: Well... here's the thing. We want to sign you... But we don't like what it does to the other teams. They might have to overpay, and we really want the Mets to be able to sign whoever they want pretty easily.
