Good deal for the Indians. Valbuena is going to be a hell of a player. He's a plus defender and can handle the bat well.
Decent deal for the other two teams. Putting together a bullpen should be much easier than being shown.

Other than Carp, the 3 minor leaguers the Mets gave up were nothing great. Heilman had no use in NY anymore. Green replaces Smtih as a ROOGY. Green sucked in the 2nd half b/c he pitched 56 innings in the first half which is insane.
Endy will be missed but he's replaceable.

Putting together a bullpen you can project to be good is far more challenging.

Maybe. But I've seen Dayton Moore put together a GREAT bullpen the past two years on pennies to the dollar. Maybe I'm on my high horse here because he has done that.

Does that great bullpen include Jimmy Gobble?

It did in 2007. Hillman didn't use him in his LOOGY role this year, and he is awful against right handers. Then he was on the DL most of the season (I think).

I was kidding.
Moore has the luxury of waiting for young guys to develop. Minaya has to acquire accomplished guys. He built a cheap pen in 2006, but no one repeated.

Bullpen is the most unpredictable part of the team. Relieves can be good 1 year and bad the next.

Signing Putz and K-Rod are two big steps towards repairing the mets only real glaring weakness, the bullpen. Now they have to do the hard part, actually play lol.
