I just don't see what the Giants have accomplished by signing Rowand. hahahaha, yes I think that's the problem, Sabeans trying to keep up with the play and hand out deals like this one and the one to Zito last year...

Ugh, I just don't see the point. Why not just go with Winn/Lewis/Roberts/Schierholtz (sp?) as your 4 OF's?

Exactly, I don't see a problem with having a starting OF of Winn,Davis and either Lewis or Roberts .. no they won't be fantastic, but it allows the kids to get some game time so we can see whether they are actually worth holding on to or cutting them loose..after that season then at least Sabean could turn around and trade one of the OF who we though might have talent, but because we got to see them over a whole season with consistent playing time, we realized they weren't what we thought.
I think this signing improves Sabeans chances of trading away a good young talent from the OF and then have them go to another team and become a stud (or better than Rowand in the long term)
