You can put a suit on a pig but it's still a pig.

Maybe we need to start a petition - either get rid of Lidge, or at least to NEVER put Lidge in the game after the 7th inning. They keep coming up with excuses... the latest being he abandoned the cutter and went back to what "got him here"... yeah, that helped a lot. Well if he did that I didn't see it. He used to throw strikes, and work ahead in the count. Not anymore. Send him down, send him out, just send him somewhere other than the mound.

I've been puzzled by how stubborn Garner/the Astros have been with regard to Lidge. Sure, you give a struggling player a chance, by good Lord! Enough is enough!

Maybe this'll finally force them to give up on him. His trade value just went down another notch tonight. They need to give up before he has NO value left.

Sucked all that glory out of Bidge's grand slam. Hope that was a slap in the face to all the whiners about him still being our everyday 2nd baseman.

Should have done it in the off season when teams still thought he could come out of it.

I am sure you have read some of things I have said in the past, about the fact that I agreed that Lidge should be able to work through it, and would, given the chance. I have changed my tune. He doesn't even look good. Can't throw strikes, and when he does everyone knows what is coming, including the one with the bat. It is a good thing we won, or I would really be upset. Biggio's slam was great, but Lidge almost ruined it for us.

I've had the feeling since last year that he wasn't going to come out of it... at least not here... and then when ST was no better, I was in disbelief that he still was our closer. Thankfully, Gar/Timmy/Drayton decided 2 was enough to pull the plug.

Oh well. Now we have a good chance to take this series and come out of the weekend in first. Agreed. Enough Lidge talk. What a game, and what an important win. I have to admit. I am not all that confident going in against Capuano the way he is pitching right now. Of course we are hot right now as well, so hopefully we can get to him. I still feel good about the series.
