I needed a Left Fielder who can hit well against Righties off the bench and in the bottom of the order, besides Matsui's a heck of a player

Ouch, how did you convince the owners to take on that big contract for a bottom of the order hitter?

The team is last place, but only eight games back. Will the team be making a run for it or is the focus on the future?

well, were trying to do both, that may sound crazy but were trying to collect players who are good now and will be in the prime a few years from now we have Bruce, Votto, Sandoval, Phillips, Volquez, and Cueto and then we have all the other guys like certain veterans who make our team a complete team, our main goal is to be better at the end of the year then we are at the beginning, if we make a run at the playoffs, that would be great.

Any chance Matsui will be kept beyond this year?

there is a rare possability if he starts to hit really well, we might consider keeping him, but there are plenty of players who could fill in matsui's role, besides we got matsui just to add some depth for this year
