Probably. I won't watch but I'll check up on it every half hour or so.

Part of the fun of watching the NFL and NBA drafts for me is in previewing the upcoming season and seeing the draftees' reactions, and since we're already in-season and I know maybe two or three players, I doubt I'll be watching.

Reds took P Mike Leake from AZ State. Tremendous pick. Love that guy.
Royals took P Aaron Crow. Like this pick, was scared it was going to be a reach.

Crow doesn't have great mechanics.

Oh god. The Mets' pick is awful. They picked Steven Matz. He seems like he was a reach and they could have drafted later. They better not have drafted him b/c he's from Long Island.

True on Crow, but he repeats them well and it's probably not worth making wholesale changes to them and risking losing his stuff. Repeating mechanics, even if they aren't good, certainly helps out quite a bit. It's the guys that can't repeat the delivery well that have problems, both with command and with injuries, since your putting pressure on so many different muscles/tendons/whatever.

Baseball America says he was a top 3 round guy because of his upside. Probably not too much of a reach, if it was at all.

Repeating your mechanics is nice but repeating the wrong thing doesn't help. Oh god. The Mets' pick is awful. They picked Steven Matz. He seems like he was a reach and they could have drafted later. This was his first healthy year IIRC.

I don't know about that. I haven't seen any proof (other than O'Leary) that those mechanics are really that bad. There's been no research done to prove that using that type of delivery is worse or has any more ill effects than pitchers who use the "correct" mechanics.
Whatever, I guess. Even if they are bad, they're not Prior, Wood, or Anthony Reyes bad. Plus the organization will undoubtedly continue to smooth out the mechanics to do the best to avoid injury.
