When the Yankees announced Clemens would return, they were 5.5 games behind the Red Sox and were struggling mostly because of poor starting pitching.
About 3 weeks later, their deficit has nearly doubled and is struggling more so because their key bats aren't hitting.
Should the Yankees keep Clemens, who is getting a pro-rated $28M, or void the deal and look to get help where they truly need it (Outfield, 1B, Bullpen)?

Void the deal, good thing they never activated him. No way Clemans can turn their awful season around. And look like Joe Torre is going to get fire too at the end of the season. I'll be at the other side cheering for the D-Rays.

a guy that will most likely get an ERA of around 3 at what I think to be his absolute best in the AL is not worth 28 million for any team. This is why a lot of people hate the yankees. They usually just attempt to buy their way to the playoffs and world series. This money however, will not do the trick, void the deal.

I say void it. He's no ace. He wasn't with the Yankees years ago and wasn't with the Astros last year. He's going to give 5 quality innings, no more, no less. Their bullpen is a mess and they'd be better off using that $28M in a deal for relievers or a 1B.

weird thought, make him a reliever? no long term games, give him like 4 innings of relif

His agent said he won't relieve. Even if he does 4 innings, he'll have to get 5 days rest.

sucks, maybe he should go to a lower rated team (Nationals?)

Then he wouldn't be getting $28M.

I don't see why they'd void it. Remember, George Steinbrenner owns this team. Money isn't an issue. And if they did void it, how would it benefit them? It's not like they'd suddenly have the resources to get other players. Roger Clemens is a HOF pitcher. If you can afford him, why suddenly get rid him? This is just another situation of people paying way too much attention to the Yankees.

They should deal him

Its a 1 year contract. No player can turn that team around to 1st place divicion just by playing every 5th game. They are better off saving that $28M for the free agent next year.

I wish I was a yankees fan. It just shows how awful the MLB money situation is these days. 28 Million is nothing to the yankees, but that same amount to the reds is a big deal. It just not fair.
